Show Opera "Blossom Time9 To Be Presented Here April 3 "Blossom Time," a light opera which has been a perennial favorite favor-ite since 1921, will be presented at The Cedar City Public School auditorium aud-itorium on Thursday, April 3 by the Arts division of the Utah Centennial Cen-tennial commission, Dr. Lorln F. Wheelwright, production manager. "Blossom Time" Is the unforgettable unforget-table story of the life and love of FranZj Schubert, the great Austrian composer. It has had a practically continual run in the United States since it was first produced 26 years ago. It is considered one of the all time masterpieces In this form of art and Is being produced specially for Utah's hundredth birthday celebration. The entire cast of 25 plus a large chorus Is made up of Utah residents. There will be two complete casts. The leading role of Schubert will be played alternately by Walter Richardson Rich-ardson of Benjamin, one of the State's most accomplished singers,, and W. Sterling Bush of Salt Lake City, another stellar performer. The feminine lead, the rele of Mitzl, will be played by Dorothy Kimball Keddlngton of Salt Lake City and Gao Peterson of Brlgham City. Some of the Schuberi music has been borrowed for the production of "Blossom Time" and adapted by the well known contemporary composer, com-poser, Slgmund Romberg. The play is complete with pathos and comedy. come-dy. It has become a legendary piece in the annals of American light opera and a "must" on the list of things a person must see. The production will be staged at a loss but the deficit will be assumed as-sumed by the Centennial Commission Commis-sion as part of the program to bring to every corner of Utah the finest In cultural entertainment. Adult tickets may be obtained from Parley Anderson at the Bank of Southern Utah. The price Is $1.20 including tax. Children will be admitted ad-mitted for 25c at the afternoon matinee only, but adults will be charged the full evening price. |
