Show Reed H. Gardner Resigns Power Company Position Reed H. Gardner, President and General Manager of the Southern Utah Power Compmny in Cedar City, has resigned that position to accept a position with the Arizona-Edison Arizona-Edison Company, at Phoenix. Arizona. Ariz-ona. Mr. Gardner's resignation will become effective Saturday March 22, and he will leave for Phoenix on Sunday, Mr. Gardner's successor as manager man-ager of the local company will be named at a 'meeting of the Board of Directors Saturday afternoon. Gardner came to Cedar City In April, 1930, to accept a position as assistant manager to A. L. Wood-house, Wood-house, of the old Dixie Power Company Com-pany here. He left a position with the Michigan Bell Telephone Company Com-pany In Saginaw, Michigan, to come to Cedar City. In January, 1937 he became vice-president and general manager of the local power company, com-pany, and In January, 1942 he was made president of the comDanv and continued in his position as General Manager He will become Vice President and Operating Manager of the Arizona-Edlson Arizona-Edlson Company, with headquarters lit Phoenix. The company, a much larger company than the local organization, or-ganization, services ten cities in the vicinity of Phoenix with electricity, gas, ice and water. After about two weeks at his new location Mr. Gardner plans to return re-turn to Cedar City' to sell his home and move his Jamlly to the Arizona city. During his sixteen years In Cedar City, the power company official has been very active in civic circles. cir-cles. He was instrumental In organizing organ-izing the Associated Civic Clubs of Southern Utah, and served as president pres-ident of that association. He is also a past president of the Cedar City Rotary Club, and of the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce. |
