Show Proclamation Sets Dates, Areas and Regulations for Special Deer Hunt A deer proclamation for the state of Utah governing hunting dates, regulations and hunting areas was made this week by the State Board of Big Game Control, Con-trol, R. L. Turpin, chairman. The special permits are being issued because it is felt by the board that a surplus of deer exists. ex-ists. Permits in this area number 16,200 all antlerless deer, to be taken between Oct. 22 and Nov. 1. They are Parowan 400, Para-gonah-Cottonwood, 1.000; Terry-Ox Terry-Ox Valley, 900; Pinto-Enterprise, 800, and Plntura-Browse area, 500. Permits for these areas will be placed on open sale, "first come, first served", at county courthouses court-houses as designated, beginning at 9 a. m. October 3. They will remain on sale until the number num-ber alloted to each area is sold, or until the close of the special spe-cial deer hunting season! The permits will sell for $3 each to residents, and $10 each to nonresidents. non-residents. Licenses will be available In Parowan for the Parowan and Paragonah-Cottonwood units, and in St. George for the Terry-Ox Valley, Plnto-Enterprlse and the Pintura-Browse area units. Permits Per-mits will only be Issued to per-sons per-sons who have purchased a 1949 Utah Big Game Hunting license. It is also unlawful to apply for or possess more than one special deer permit for any one calendar year. The permits are non-transferable and are valid only on the hunting area applied for. Description of hunting units: Parowan (400 Antlerless Regular:) Reg-ular:) Beginning at Parowant thence southerly on U. S. Highway High-way 91 to Cedar City; thence easterly eas-terly up Coal Creek canyon to Maple canyon; thence up Maple canyon to Six Lakes; thence along road to Brlanhead; thence down Brianhead-Parowan road to point of beginning. Paragonah-Cottonwood (1000 Antlerless Regular) : Beginning at Paragonah; Thence up Red Creek canyon to the Pangultch Lake road; thence southerly along suld road to the Pole Hollow Hol-low road; ihence southeasterly along said road to the Pangultch Lake-Panguitch road; thence easterly eas-terly along said road to the forest for-est boundary; thence northerly along said boundary to the Bear Valley Bone Hollow road; thence westerly along said road to U. S. Highway No. 91; thence southerly on said road to point of beginning. Terry-Ox Valley (900 Antler-less-Regular) : That area from the Enterprise-Crestllne road on the north to the Motoqua St. George road on the south; and from the Gunlock-Veyo-Enterprise road on the east to the Beaver Dam Wash and the Nevada State Line on the west. Pinto-Enterprise (800 Antlerless Antler-less Regular): Beginning on the Cedar City-Newcastle road at the old Woolsey Ranch; thence westerly along said road to New-castle; New-castle; thence southerly up Holt Canyon (Meadow Valley) road to divide between Mountain Meadows Mea-dows and Central; thence easterly eas-terly along the drainage divide to the divide on the Grass Valley-Pinto road; thence northerly along the Pinto road to The Dairy ; thence northeasterly along the Forest Service division fence to the point of beglnnig. Pintura-Browse Area (500 An-tlerless An-tlerless Regular): Beginning at the mouth of Leap Creek on U. S. Highway No. 91 (near Pin-tura); Pin-tura); thence up Leap Creek to the Rim of Pine Valley Mountain; Moun-tain; thence southwesterly along the rim of Pine Valley Mountain to Signal Peak; then southeaster-ly southeaster-ly down Oak Grove road to Highway No. 91; thence northerly norther-ly up Highway No. 91 to point of beginning. |
