Show Ignited Gasoline Sets Fire to Home Washing clothes with gas in a" washing machine is not the easiest way to get clothes clean, so Charles Gillespie learned last night when his home burned burn-ed down. Static electricity from the machine ma-chine ignited the gasoline, and in a matter of minutes, the entire en-tire inside of the house was in flames. Firemen were called out at 7:45 p.m., and in 10 minutes, the volunteer force had the blaze under control. One fireman, C. B. Gordon, was overcome by fumes and smoke while working work-ing on the inside. He was placed in an oxygen tent and rushed to the Iron County Hospital. His condition wa reported as "much improved" today. Damage is estimated at $2800, according to M. F. Grames. fire-chief fire-chief and the house and furniture furni-ture were fully covered by insurance. |
