Show Knife and Fork Club to Hear Voman Speaker x V'W.' $ 1 ft k I ISMET SANLI The members of the Escalante Knife and Fork club are fortunate fortun-ate to have Miss Ismet Sanll as their next guest speaker on the evening of March 31. The affair will be held at El Escalante hotel ho-tel at 7:30 p. m. according to D. C. Dlx the local secretary. Modern Turkey, which stands at the crossroads of the East and West, will be Interpreted by Miss Sanli, former delegate to the United Nations conference. Miss Sanli, a daughter of modern mod-ern Turkey, will relate to her audience little-known facts of her native land. She will give a bird's eye view of the historical background and the progress Turkey has made. She will explain ex-plain the changes brought about by Kemal Ataturk when he overthrew over-threw the Ottoman Empire" In 1923 and initiated fundamental reforms in the social, political judicial and economic life of Turkey. The father of Miss Sanli is a newspaper publisher in Ismir (formerly Smyrna) and she has been for several yeirs United States correspondent for outstanding out-standing Turkish newspapers. Ismet Sanll is well known for her beauty and charm as well as for the ability to disseminate authentic information in a fascinating fas-cinating manner. Other Associated Associat-ed club audiences have reported her "the best of the year". Miss Sanli conferred with lead-ers lead-ers of Turkey and of the other Mohammedan countries during during her European tour of 3947. |
