Show BPW State President Addresses Meeting vfj V Leah Merrill, Logan, state president of the BPW clubs, was the honored guest and principal speaker at a meeting of the local lo-cal club last night. Speaking in Cedar City before 70 members and guests, including includ-ing representatives from Kanab, St. George, Beaver, and Pan-gultch, Pan-gultch, president Merrill helped to sound the warning to working work-ing women to "look ahead" and plan their financial future as recently re-cently keynoted in a speech by Mrs. Hazel R. Ferguson, education educa-tion and vocations committee chairman of the National Federation Feder-ation of Bl'W clubs. Presidenl Merrill stated that It was definitely the duty of BPW club members to give every business bus-iness and professional woman the opportunities that membership member-ship in the club holds out to them. She said, "Our aim this year is to affiliate, assimilate and celebrate our successes". Each member had as her guest younger business women, and girls who will graduate in the spring and enter positions within with-in the next year, the object of the meeting being a good will gesture to these girls and an offer of-fer of assistance in choosing a Job or profession; The girls were also shown how the club members mem-bers would help them in any way to further their opportunities, opportuni-ties, and find better working conditions. Tables were attractively decorated decor-ated in white sweet peas and green candles, and place cards were booklets in green and white with real four leaf clover sprigs in honor of St. Patrick's Day. The booklet contained besides be-sides the Club Collect, news quips and community songs. Club trio, Mamie Eck, Ethel Smith and Lois Munford, accompanied accom-panied by Beth Leigh, opened the meeting by singing the Collect Col-lect i nd two other numbers. Lillian Lunt explained the Good-Will program of the club and then asked the following to give their Ideas of the mean-lrfg mean-lrfg of the Collect: Carol Johnson, John-son, Candace Ewlng. Zoo Talmer, Gladys McConnell, Harriet Math-jeson Math-jeson and Florence Cardon. Lillian W. Lunt, Good-Will chairman, was In charge of the meeting. |
