Show Broncos Get Back Into Football Race With Victory Over Snow The Branch Agricultural College football team got back into the In-termountain In-termountain Junior College race Friday night with a 14 to 6 victory over the Snow College Badgers, in an interesting game played under the lights on the B. A. C. gridiron. The game was the first night contest con-test ever played here and proved very popular with the fans in spite of the fact that it was a cold, and stormy night. The Broncos will play again tonight, to-night, meeting the B. Y. U. Reserves on the B. A. C. in a game that should be one of the best of the season. The Y squad includes a number of players who will undoubtedly un-doubtedly see some action when the B. Y. U. team plays the University of Utah Saturday night. However they will find the Broncos no pushover push-over and plenty of action is assured. as-sured. The kickoff will be at 8:00 p. m. The game with the Snow team Friday was an interesting battle In spite of the fact that It was played on a muddy turf that slowed down both teams. Fumbles figured In all three scores of the game, but both teams took many chances with passes, forward and lateral, In spite of the fact they were handling a wet, slippery ball. The first score came with lightening lighten-ing suddenness, the Broncos getting a touch down on the first play of the game, when alert Scotty Blair picked Snow's fumble of the opening open-ing kick out of mld-alr and scampered scamp-ered across the goal line. A perfect kick added another point and the Broncos had the necessary points to win the game before a minute of play hnd passed. From that time on. however, the game was a real battle, with the Badgers keeping very much in the game with a surprising passing attack. at-tack. The Broncos threatened again a few minutes later but a gallant goal line stand by Snow stopped the B. A. C. team on the two yard line. Two scores were added in the second se-cond quarter, the Broncos taking a 14 to 0 lead after recovering a Snow fumble. Dahl Oleave, Phil Mlrabelll and Bob Lunt alternated n moving the ball into scoring po-Rltlon po-Rltlon and then Cleave plunged over for the touchdown, and Lunt con-verted con-verted for the extra point. After an exchange of punts Snow rr covered a B. A. C. fumble on the Bronco 2-yard and quarterbuck Fll-lis Fll-lis sneaked over for the visitors' only score. The attempted kick for the extra point was blocked. The Bronocos threatened on sev-eral sev-eral occasions throughout the second se-cond half, but could not cross the goal line. Coach Murray Matighan showed the Bronco supporters an array of excellent backs In Phil Mlrabelll. Dahl Gleave, Bob Lunt. Kenney Jamison, Ray 8abln and Wld Bas-tlan. Bas-tlan. while Ken Porter, Frank Heywood, Hey-wood, Ronnie Walsh, Gene Woodbury, Wood-bury, and Scotty Blair looked especially espe-cially good on the line. |
