Fighters Service j Plans for expansion of the Forest and Range fire Fighters Service were laid at a conference Just closed clo-sed at Cedar C.ty at which representatives repre-sentatives of the State Board ot Fire Control, local Slveriffs. Utah Highway Putrol, National Park Ser. j vice. Soil Conservation Service, Ora- zing Service, and Forest Service held consultations to prevent-and control the wartime menace of fire to natural resources in this part of the state. F S nt I Cedar City said that the organization organiz-ation now embraces sixty plegded and enrolled personnel recruited from among all classes of citizens. I These members are willing to spread the principal of prevention and are ready at all times to fight fire. A large part of the membership received re-ceived on the ground training last year in fire fighting, Mr. Albertson said. Tlie aim of O. C. D is to double the enrollment of fire fighters thl year if possible. The F. and R F PS Is one of five bas.c divisions of the Office of Civilian Defense. Its purpose is to provided fire fighters, qquipped and trained to augment the control organizations or-ganizations of the different pro-l tection agencies. It Is to acquaint the people in the area with theli responsibility in fire prevention and suppression, and to provide an opportunity op-portunity for people in and near forest and range areas to participate particip-ate in the war effort in regard to fire. The work of the organization locally last year was gratifying, Mr Albertson commented. The F. nnd R F F S in Utah attained special recognition as being more advanced advan-ced in organization than it is In sny other state. This speakes well for the interest nnd work of Utah citizens in this phase of civilian defense. Everyone should aid this important part of the war effort See the local O C.
