Show High School Track Team Wins Third Tiace at Meet In spite of the fact that a number num-ber of his team members spent friday night traveling from Salt Lake City on return from taking the mll.tary physical exaniinatioiu.. Couch Monte Bailey's Cedar C.ty Hiah School Track and Field team made a fine showing at the Invita-t Invita-t onal meet at Hurricane Saturday. The Redmen won third place in tne meet, garnering 39 'a points. Hurricane placed first with 5D! points, while Dixie edged Cedar out for second with 41 1-3 points. Other Oth-er teams entered finished in the following order: Virgin Valley, 30 'a Kanab, 21 1-3; Beaver, 18; Valley. 10; Enterprise, 8; Parowan 2 and Woodard Tenth Grade, 2. The Cedar team took two first places. Don Yumori winning the 100 yard dash, and the 880 relay teuin, consisting of Rulon Hey borne, Durrell Woolsey, Don Yumori and Don Neeley, winning that event handily. Other Cedar points were won as follows; 220 yard dash, Neeley, second, sec-ond, Yumori, third. Wool.sey, fifth; 120 yard high hurdles. Denton Bauer, fourth and Blaine Betensen. fifth; 440 yard dash, Gail Woodbury, Wood-bury, fifth; high Jump. Udell Smith second, and Don Dee Seaman, third, broad jump, Neeley, ourt.h; pole vault, Gary Jones, second; shot put, David Hunt, fourth; mile run Gerald Hess, third; mile relay, Dick Rice, Trustin Hart, Boyd Rollins, &nd Gall Woodbury, second. Although the bad weather of this week has Interferred very much with thir practice the Redmen art determined to make a good showing show-ing in the Region Six meet to be held in Cedar City on April 23th All teams thut participated at Hurricane, Hur-ricane, except Virgin Valley, will enter the meet here, and in addition teams will be entered from Delta. Hinckley, Fillmore and Milford high schools. |
