Show WASHINGTON FtOM OUR CONGRESSMAN W. tC 6 RANGER i - Veterans' Employment Opportunities Opportuni-ties In OPA Chester B-ales, Administrator of the Office oi Pr.ce Administration, has announced that war veterans will be hired in OPA offices and boards throughout the country as rapidly as vacancies occur. OPA hires about 2,500 new employees em-ployees each month to fill vacancies vacanc-ies hat occur because of wartime conditions, and the agency believes that a great many of thse positions can be ably filled by return.ng servicemen. ser-vicemen. Plana are now being worked out In the eight regional offices to place orders with the Civil Service Commission Com-mission for direct hiring for a number num-ber of positions. In other words, the Commission will appoint veterans with proper qualifications for the Jobs vacant in each region and the OPA will immediately accept the appointees. Men returning from the battlefields battle-fields to positions with the OPA w.ll contaiue to serve their country on the home front as they have been In the armed services. In the f eld offices and local boards they will be able to work right In their home communities and have a chance to be with their own famlies and friends. Through this work they will have the chance to muke contacts with business and trades and obtain training In business practices which will give them the opportunty to return to private occupations as openings take place. This will help fcridge Uie gap between military life and a permanent place in civilian civil-ian life for thousands of our fighting fight-ing men. Representatives of tthe American Legion, the Disabled Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars are cooperating In working out policies to best utilize the nbllties of returning re-turning veterans, and have offered to inform them through their publications pub-lications of the positions now open and which will be open in the coming months In OPA. Anioung the Jobi in OPA which will provide employment opportunities opportun-ities for veterns are positions as local board clerks and investigators investigat-ors who help stamp out black market mar-ket operators and check violations of OPA regulations. It Is anticipated anticipat-ed that veterans will be found who; ability and experience fit in with every type of OPA Jobs.
