Show Cherniavsky Brothers Thrill Local Music Lovers With Concert (By Roy L. Halveisen) People of Cedar City u..a the surrounding area had their opportunity oppor-tunity last Thursday night i n I at the feet of first rata artUi uu ! enjoy, not only groat music, lui i enjoy great muslo beautifully P-!ed. P-!ed. The artistry of Jan and Mi-chel Mi-chel Cherniavsky cannot be questioned ques-tioned and the love with which they applied' their art can- only be admired ad-mired by all and emulated by those of us who desire to Interpret the masterpiece. Iruiy, tne Bach numbers played play-ed by Jan sounded as though they were played on an organ, tne Instrument In-strument for which and with which Bach did so much of his wore, anu in spite of the fact that many question the emotional content ol Bach's works, one could not help but appreciate and feel the majesty ma-jesty and breadth contained In ttiose compositions played by Jan. We heard again the Cello played play-ed In a manner that showed the great solo possibilities of that Instrument. In-strument. Few men on the cot cert ktags can draw such a singing tone, so full of warmth, and so expressive of the gamut of human emotions, as did Misohei. The true mark of the artist was on everything played because technical dexterity was subjugated to the musical content of the numbers. For such a concert to be successful two factors must be present, first artists of the highest order and second, a listening audience that has discrimination and taste and above all a love of fine art. We can all well be proud of the presence pres-ence of that second factor Thursday Thurs-day night. |
