Show High School fioy's Project Sow Sets Defense Record Hogs are doing their part for defense de-fense too. At least one sow has answered an-swered the nation's call for more pigs. She gave birth to a Utter of 17 a rather large family at ones. The mother and children are doing well it is reported. The sow belongs to Darce Prince of New Harmony, a student at the Cedar City high school. He Is caring car-ing for the animal as part of his work In vocational agriculture, according ac-cording to H. J. Gunn, agricultural Instructor at the school. Each boy enrolled in the department depart-ment is required to assume the management of some type of livestock live-stock or raise crops. As a result several boys have been raising hogs, others are fattening beef, and some are caring for breeding sheep. Chick-ens Chick-ens have also been taken for projects pro-jects to Increase the. production of poultry and eggs. Each student has a record book, where accounts are kept of his project pro-ject Through this method each boy gets practical experience in farm record keeping. In addition to regular Agricultur al classes the students take a class In Farm Mechanics where projects are made, and repair work done that pertains to the farm. Doing the year machinery has been repaired, motors overhauled, tools sharpened, and other related work finished. |
