Show I Nautical Holes tf&L ly BILL HEN0r VONj Your Navy Recruiting Station at Cedar City reports two enlistments in the United States Naval Reserve for the past week. These two men volunteered their services to the Unltd States Navy for the duration of the war. THIS WEEK'S HONOR ROLL: Dan Thompson, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl D. Thompson. Mlners-ville, Mlners-ville, Utah; and Arnold W. Rollins, 26, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vern F. Rollins, Mlncrsville, Utah. -USN- Mr. and Mrs. Ellas Leigh of Cedar Ced-ar City have received word from their son Bevan, In the Naval service. ser-vice. Beavan has recently been promoted pro-moted to Ships Cook, 3 class, a 3rd class petty officer's rating. Shortly after his 17th birthday, Bevan enlisted en-listed in the Navy, received his recruit re-cruit training at San Delgo, and has attended two service schools and received three promotions in less than one years service. -USN- Jack Foster, son of Mr. and Mi J. J. M. Foster, 2S0 Center Street, Cedar City, was home visiting hl3 folks and friends early this week. Jack left for Dallas, Texas, Tuesday Tues-day morning for advanced training In the United States Navy Air Corps. He recently completed preliminary elimination flight training at Alameda, Al-ameda, California. -USN- There have always been opportunities oppor-tunities for youth there always will be. But not within our time again, possibly, will there come Uie opportunities op-portunities that will be seen within the next few years. So, to all you parents and to all you younger men who are searching your souls for true answers to today's problems, this Is the Navy's answer: Fit yourselves your-selves for a definite place, and let the Navy help you do it. Going off to war these days doesn't does-n't mean learning to carry a riffle and do squads right. War today means a sharpening of wits, the development de-velopment of superior physical stamina, stam-ina, the broadening of skills and the cultivation of alert, concise and ordered thinking. Upon these abilities abil-ities the world places now, and will place In the future, new premiums and will give richly of new rewards. Young men of today: Whatever your ability, develop It further for you owe It to your country. The height of patriotic devotion in this war Is superb, cool Intelligence the kind of thing the Navy is developing de-veloping under Its V-l program. |
