Show Western Airlines To Begin Service Here About July 1 Daily passenger and air mall service will b started In Cedar City soon by the Western Airlines, according to company officials wlu visited Cedar City last week to arrange ar-range for facilities at the Municipal Munici-pal Airport to handle the servlc?. The officials conferred with City officials and arrang.d to rent needed need-ed office space, and announced that the service would be started probably pro-bably before July 1st. The city will provide waiting room facilities and space for a ticket office free of charg, and will rent two office rooms to the company, for gen ral office aiu r&dlo use. Remodeling to provide the office space will b started immediately im-mediately and rushed to completion comple-tion In order that no d' lay In starting start-ing the service will be caused. The company will install its own radio equipm.nt and facilities to handle luggage, etc, while the city has agreed to erect a fence between be-tween the loading aprons and the waiting rooms as a means of keeping keep-ing passengers or spectators away from the planes. The fence will ex. t nd from one hangar to the other, thus ke ping pedestrians and automobiles auto-mobiles away from the front of the hangars. Walks will be laid from the automobile parking area to the offices and waiting rooms, and grass will be planted around the Steak House and between th hangars. Schedules will be announced In the near future, together with the starting date of the service. The Airline officials were well pleased with the Airport and it iacllities, and were optimistic about the mture of air travel in this pan oi Utah. |
