Show ODT Warns Against Unnecessary Use Of School Kuscs A new warning that school buses may not be used to transport students stu-dents to athletic games, state or county fairs or similar events, was Issued this week by the Office of Defease Transportation. Many requests for the use of school buses for special puroses led to the new declaration that buses are to be used only to permit teachers teach-ers and students to attend regular sessions of school. Joseph B. Eastman, director of the ODT, explained that the restriction re-striction Is necessary If sufficient bus transportation is to be available avail-able for the duration of the war. "Present equipment must be made to last so that necessary service for the greatest number of children over the longest period of time Is provided," Mr. Eastman said. ,4The present critical shortage of heavy-duty heavy-duty bus tires, In addition to the scarcity of gasoline, parts and the vehicles themselves makes It imperative im-perative that every mile of unnecessary un-necessary travel be eliminated. "Only through the utmost conservation conser-vation can we be certain that children child-ren will not be compelled to stay away from school because of the lack of school buses to transport them."
