Show 1943 Deer Season Gets Off To Promising Start From all indications the 1943 deer hunt on the Dixie National Forest I will he as good as any In the past, according to Forest officials, who announce that while the success of the hunters has been rather spotted, spot-ted, on the whole, the season has been a ve y profitable one thus far. A large number of hunters, both local and from outside the sta.e. principally from California, have participated in the hunt again this year. The open weather encountered en-countered early in the season had a tendency to keep the game high In the mountains, but the sto.m early this week has driven the deer to lower levels and nimrods have been able to bag the usual game with the percentage of kill running high. All of the doe licenses issued for the special hunt on the Dixie division di-vision of the Dixie National Forest, numbering 1500, have been sold and It ls expected that all these hunters will be successful. The hunting has been especially pood along the Navajo Ridge and la the Navajo Lake, Bear Valley, fted Creek and Horse Valley sections sec-tions in the Sevier division of the forest, while that In the Dixie division di-vision has not been quite so successful suc-cessful durin? the first few days. Officials figures as to the number num-ber of deer killed will not be available avail-able until the close of the season, it was announced. I |
