Show Annual Mardi Gras Success Financially Officers Announce I. E. Riddle, general chairman of the Mardi Gras staged by the Third and Fourth Wards on Thursday and Friday, announces that the affair was very much a success, and that approximately $800 was added to the Wards' building funds as the result of the affair. Over 1250 people were served turkey tur-key dinners during the two-day event, and In addition large crowds enjoyed old time and modern dancing, dan-cing, one-act plays and a number of other entertainment features, making the Mardi Gras a social success as well as a financial one. A beautiful bed spread, to be given away on a drawing contest, has not yet been claimed, according to Mr. Riddle. If the person holding a white ticket No. 160 does not claim the spread by midnight Friday, Fri-day, it wil be presented to Reed Roberts, holder of the second number num-ber drawn. Mr. Riddle states that the remarkable re-markable cooperation on the part of many ward workers was responsible responsi-ble for the success of the annual event and expresses his appreciation apprecia-tion for this fine support. |
