' Fifty of the Picked Athletes From the ' Four Schools Will Partici- X pate in the Dig Meet. The biggest athletic contest over conducted in Cedar City is the attrac tion offered to the lovers of clean sport ' at the B. A. C. campus Saturday, May the 8th, if the weather will permit, at ( ternoon, if the weather will permit, at which time the teams from the B. A. t C. of this city, the Murdock Academy of Beaver, the Dixie Academy of St. George, and the Kanab High School will compete for the championship of tho southern division of the state high school league, and the winners of this contest will be permitted to participate par-ticipate in the all state high school ' meet to be held in the northern part ' of the state subsequently. I The meet was scheduled to take ' place tomorrow afternoon, but had to bo postponed one week on account of the condition of the weather, which precludod the attendance of the contestants con-testants of other schools. Tho stoim this morning was found to be general ; from Beaver to St. George, and after x considerable telephoning back and s forth it was decided to postpone both j" , the high school track meet and the district M. I. A. contest, which was to r have been held in this city tonight and j tomorrow night. It will be a battle royal, and at least I three of the teams scheduled to parts- -..v.. ticipate have strong hopes of winning !& the meet. Kanab is u little out of t the way, and wo have not learnod what tho standing of their team is, but Ka-& Ka-& nab has supplied some good athletes '' in the past, and will doubtless give a good account of itself the present sea-r sea-r son. f The list of events will comprise the following: r 100 yards dash, I 220 yards dash., k 440 yards run, ff Half mile rup, f Mile run, h' Phot put, ' Jp Hammer throw, p piscua, h High jump, ' Brood jump, !' Polo vault, i: Relay race, f Some most interesting and exciting r Y contests are expected between the fol- '- lowing, as woll as many others: H- Milne of St. George and Edwards of I Beaver in tho mile race and possibly the half. , - Bunker of the B. The sports will begin promptly at 2 p.m. and the crowd promises to be a record breaker.
