Show ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF SUPERVISOR'S OFFICE -A- Samuel F. Leigh Makes Brief Report of Improvements Accomplished During Past Two Years. ...4... Following is a brief report of the work of the office of the Supervisor ef Water Works for the years 1916 and 1917: The water system has been extended at different points in the city about six thousand feet, at a cost to the city of about 40c. per foot. Service pipe has been put in from the main line to the curb for thirty - , families. This has taken 1400 fe-jLj, of pipe nnd has cost nbout $300. Thirteen hundred feet of old pipe has been taken out of the system and replaced with new California Redwood Red-wood pipe. We have repaired seven hundred leaks in wood pipe. Two springs have been added to ths system. They have a capacity of about 00 gallons per minute. 2,000 feet of pipe was used to pipe springs to main line. Cement tnnks were installed in-stalled at both springs. 1100 feet of .''.-inch iron pipe was removed and replaced re-placed with 4-inch wood pipe. A large cement tank was installed where the springs come together. Sixteen hundred feet of iron pipe has been put below frost line in the upper part of town. The policy of the present administration adminis-tration has been to remove old pipe just as fast as our means will permit and replace with new pipe. My suggestion sug-gestion would be to install pipe in one street per year until all old pipe is removed. This can be done without with-out increasing the taxes. The present city officers have had the city's interest at heart and have done all in their power to make the administration a success. SAM. F. LEIGH, Watermaater. 4 |
