Show H RECORD'S 2ITH MILE POST H '"N NCE mon The Record llM reached a mile post H in its journey through life, this time its 24th. H Another year and we would bt an old maid, if it H were not for two circumstances, with which our H readers are more or less familiar, the first of which H is that we are of the masculine pursuasion, and H the other is that on the first of April, 1015 we were H united in the bonds of matrimony to Miss Observ- H er. So you will see that old maidhood is entirely H out of the question in our case. H Hut with maturity and experience we are in- H clined to take a decidedly serious view of life, and H the mission that of heralding the advantages and H attractions of Cedar City and Iron county, to the I world, and boosting her every interest to the best H of our al)ility that we have assumed. H We take justifiable pride in the thought that H we have not only weathered the storms which have H proved entirely too severe for all the other mem- H bers of the newspaper family born prior to or at A nbout the time of our advent into the world, but H that we have grown and progressed with the years ft until many have been so kind an to class us among H the foremost weekly papers of the state, and some H (doubtless wanting in judgment in such matters) H have gone M far as to say that there is no better H in Utah. We would not make this claim on our own H account, but the fact remains that-we have ex- H pended a lot of money and energy in bringing our H stature and equipment up to its present state. H We are as firmly rooted in the belief that Ce- dar City is the best town of its size in Utah, and that Iron county has a future that makes it one of H the very best localities in the state, as we ever H were, and Unit means that so far as our present m predilections go, we have no intention of forsaking H our present field. m We feel grateful to our splendid army of read- H ers for their support and patronage, and also to 2J (,ur local business houses, which on the whole are WJM very loyal and appreciative of our efforts to keep lf their newspaper represent at ive in the front ranks, ft and to render them service of a satisfying nature, H fully meeting the demands of the development of H the community. H As the Christmas holidays are rapidly ap- H proacliing, and the season of "Peace on earth, good H will to all men," is at hand, (though in spirit only H and not in actuality) we take the opportunity of H wishing our many readers and friends M Merry to a Christmas as is possible under the circumstan- W ces, and a prosperous and happy New Year. |
