Show Auto Beat ft Home Half Mile. Last Monday afternoon considerable consider-able interest was awakened amonir the sporting element of Cedar City by the matching of a half mile rare between be-tween an automobile and a rather fleet horse. The car used was a Studebaker Stu-debaker six stock car, with the top merely laid back and the cntrine tuned for the occasion and driven by Charles Rowe of the J. A. Kopp garage. gar-age. For the first three-fourths of the distance the race apparently was all the horse's, but about one hundred yards from the outcome, the car went by the horse like he "was standing still" and won by nearly f.O yards. There has been all kinds of talk since about various races between horses and cars for larire sums of money, but thus far nothing but "hot air" has developed. Quite a little cash is said to have I changed hands on the race last Monday. Mon-day. A |
