Show ORGANIZE "PIONEER SOCIETYJUESDAY.I For more than a year lovers of pioneer history havo been asking the state organization of tho Daughters of tho Pioneers for an organization in Ccdar City. Their efforts have at lost been rewarded. Florn B. Horne president of tho general camp of all Pioneers, and Mrs. Annn T. Picrcoy of Salt Lake City, were present at a meeting held Tuesday morning, September Sep-tember 13th. in the Tnbcrnnclc, to or-ganizo or-ganizo a local chapter. Tho meeting was called to order by Temporary Chairman Mrs. Sarah A. Bullock, followed by singing, "Come, Como Ye Snints." Prayer was offered by Andrew Corry, followed by singing "Spirit of God." Tho meeting iraa then turned over to tho organizers. President Homo spoke, explaining tho organization of tho society. Mrs. Anna T. Annn T. Picrcoy spoke on the organization and tho qunlifira-tions qunlifira-tions for membership. Election of officers followed and resulted in Mrs. Sarah A. Bullock being be-ing elected by acclamation aa president; presi-dent; Mrs;. Elizabeth Wood Leigh, first vke president; Mrs. Henrietta Lunt Jones, second vice president; Mrs. Rose Secgmillcr Fuller, flccre-. tary; MisB Nellie Pace, corresponding correspond-ing secretary; Mrs. Maggie Corry Webster, treasurer; Mrs. Ann Jones Gardner, registrar; Mrs. Emily Crane Watson, historian; Mrs. Maudo Nc-bekcr Nc-bekcr Thompson, assistant historian. Andrew Corry and J. H. Armstrong wero present as pioneers of 1847 and both expressed their happiness in the organization of the society. President Bullock thanked tho members for the honor conferred upon her and tho meeting was brought to a close by the song "Wo Thank Thee 0 God For a Phophot," benediction by J. H. Armstrong. Monday evening at tho Tabernacle, lantern slides were shown by Mrs. Home, following up the early his-toryiof his-toryiof tho pioneers, Sunday, Sept. 18th, after church services, President Bullock requests that all (.officers of the local chapter meet at the city library building to plan tho future of the organization. |
