Show NEW ST. JOSEPH'S, OGDEN. "Aunt Busy's" Review of Thank.5- giving Night Affair. The people of Ogden will long remember re-member the very fine concert given on Thanksgiving night foi the benefit of St. Joseph's church. It was a musical treat of unusual merit and every number num-ber on the programme won the earnest applause of the large audience. The concert was under the direction of Miss Ella Conroy, the very efficient and hardworking young organist of St. Joseph's. It was certainly gratifying grati-fying to her. that the undertakine was an artistic as well as financial success, suc-cess, although she very-modesty gives the credit to the prominent musicians of Ogden, who generously'-1 volunteered to assist. In any case. Miss Conroy and all who took part tire-to be congratulated con-gratulated on the perfect success of the affair. Father Cushnahan, Ogden's dearly loved priest, delivered a brief but masterly address of welcome. He was greeted with a burst of applause that resounded re-sounded throughout the magnificent building. He spoke of the hard but successful struggle made by the Catholics of Ogden Og-den to erect the church. "Indeed." ' said the reverend father, "your faith has a voice tonight, the heart beatings ; of your charity are interwoven with the harmony of this occasion, and the feeliqgs of friendly regard and mutual respect - which mark your relations with others of different creeds manifest that your love of God, discernable in vniii- works pmhrar-pc i-nnr fellow men . in the sphere of its generous action." He then spoke of the devotion, loyalty and obedience ever shown by the Cath- , olic people" of Ogden to the church; that the magnificent edifice was an evidence of this faith and devotion, j Rev. Father Cushnahan spoke very feelingly of the non-Catholics of Og- : den, who have always given evidence of j sincere kindness and brotherly feeling j to their Catholic friends. - ! After the concert the. choir of St. Joseph's and those wTho assisted in the I programme were delightfully enter- ' tained by Rev. Father Cushnahan at his home, which adjoins the church. He j was assisted in entertaining by Miss j Anna Mullen and Miss Kate Fitzger- 1 aid. Delicious refreshments were served and all present had a most enjoyable time, fully appreciating the genuine Irish hospitality of dear Father Cush-. nahan, who is to all a true "soggarth aroon." The church will be dedicated on Dec. 14 by Rt. Rev. Bishop Scanlan.. The Catholics of Ogden are making every preparation to make the event one long to be remembered in Ogden's history. The annual ball of the machinists of j Ogden held Thanksgiving eve, as I largely attended and a most enjoyable affair. . The dance was at Conley's hajl, the K. P. banquet room also bein utilized. Frank J. Brophy of the civil engineering engi-neering department of the Southern Pacific in Ogden, and Miss Belle English Eng-lish were married Sunday last at the home of the bride in North Columbia, Cal., and have moved to Ogden. Mrs. M. Couch entertained Tuesday last prior to her departure for Cali- ' fornia with her daughter Mamie to spend the winter. They will leave early this week. Mrs. - Thomas Fitzgerald left- Friday for Washington to visit with her daughter, Mrs. George P.
