The dance of the local branch of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, which was held at the Windsor hotel on Wednesday Wed-nesday evening, Oct. 2S, was anv unprecedented un-precedented success. This fact is largely large-ly due to the activities of the floor committee composed of James Quinlan, John McCormick, Joseph Donahue, Thomas Guinea and F. J. Kenigan. V it ate Attorney Ben F. Brown, called to Johnstown, Pa,, by the serious illness of his mother, Mrs. Charles Brown, last week, returned on Wednseday, reporting report-ing that the crisis has been passed and that Mrs. Brown ttM1 soon, be herself again. Mrs. Brown has been visiting her daughtetr, Mrs. Stenger, formerly Miss Inez Brown of Denver. ij Father McMenamin, pastor of the cathedral, ca-thedral, returned during the week from a short visit to relatives In Iowa. Father Francis Henegan was the orator ora-tor at Immaculate Conception chapel on Sunday evening. His subject was "Ths Miracles and Prophesies of Christ." Adolfo Rossi arrived in Denver during dur-ing the week to succeed Baron Tosti as Italian consul for Colorado and the west. Consul Rossi came directly from Rome, where he was commissioner of emigration for a number of years. With his two daughters and two sons, Consul Rossi will take up his residence at 1024 Grant avenue. The office of the consulate will also be there. The coming com-ing of the new Italian consul will not be marked by any of the demonstrations demonstra-tions customary on such occasions, as the family is in mourning, the wife of Consul Rossi having died just before he left Rome. 1 W JR Miss Nora McKinney of S848 West Forty-eighth avenue is recovering from an attack of typhoid fever. William Buckley, who for some time has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Nellie Quinn, has gone to Chicago for the winter. Eugenio Garcia of Trinidad, Colo., was in Denver during the nast wepir Mrs. Daniel Harrington of 1251 Clark-son Clark-son street returned on Sunday from a tour of the state. Mrs. Harrington was a guest on the special train which carried car-ried the Democratic candidates on a campaign tour through Colorado. ac Mrs. Frank W. Barry has returned from a visit in southern Colorado. Mrs. M. J. McCarthy entertained her 00 Card club Friday afternoon at her home, 1658 St. Paul street. The prize was won by Mrs. Terrence Owens. Miss Blanche Ryan has returned from the lake resorts of Wisconsin, where the family spent a delightful summer. Miss Olive Traver is expected home auring me week from a four months' stay in the east. Miss Florence Flynn, who is teaching teach-ing school at Elizabeth, Colo., will spend Saturday and Sunday in Denver with her family. Mrs. J. F. Sullivan has returned to her home in Seattle, after a pleasant visit with Denver friends. The spacious home of Mrs. JoseDh Monnlg at 1041 Marion street was the scene of a gay card party Wednesday afternoon. Palms, ferns and yellow chrysanthemums were used in profusion profu-sion to adorn the rooms. About fifty guests were seated around the card tables. ta-bles. The paper at the last meeting by Mrs. Thomas Morrow was on "The Yosemite Valley and Lake Tahoe."
