Show TRIBUTE TO THE IRISH RACE. "Washington, D. C. Editor Freeman's Journal: Dear Sir: If you think this poor ef-i ef-i fort of mine worthy of publication, I would deem it an honor to have it printed in your estimable paper. I have the honor to be a member of the purely Irish congregation of St. Aloysius church in Washington, and the wonderful won-derful devotion of these people has impressed im-pressed me with such admiration that I can truthfully assert that it is the Irish race who have planted the faith 6f Christ so firmly in America today. VVerily I have not seen such faith in all Israel." With hopes that you will pardon my presumption in addressing you, I am, Very respectfully, MRS. J. HOWARD WHITE. Wherever an Irish Catholic heart throbs the faith of God lives. Their women are virtuous, their men brave. It is their, heritage that, down through the ages, they have been destined to champion the faith of Christ, no matter where their footsteps may wander, no matterhow barren the soil. By their presence Catholicity will surely ourish and yield forth its ,choiceet fruits. There Is something sublime in their beautiful faith, something to make the most skeptical marvel, though wrongs and oppression have overshadowed that dear Isle of Saints, its people',? faith has never grown dim. Forever the love of Jesus and Mary burns bright in their hearts. Other nations have wandered away from the fold of Christ, other nations have bartered their birthright birth-right for a mess of pottage, but never Catholic Ireland; and in this great land of freedom, when the churches and institutions in-stitutions of the faith of Christ are reaching the highest pinacles of greatness, great-ness, whose hands have reared these temples? whose hands have planted the seed of Catholicity that have yielded yield-ed such a rich harvest of souls? No nation has labored with such untiring zeal as Ireland. Ever cherishing. a love and devotion in their hearts for the dear old land of the shamrock, yet where can one find more patriotic citizens citi-zens in this great land of freedom, more loyal defenders of the glorious Stars and Stripes han the brave Irish-American Irish-American citizen?
