Show o o Control Of Weeds Will He Continued Treatment of Noxious Weeds Is Available Through County Office The past few years a weed control con-trol program has been conducted in Franklin county. The program has been planned to control the noxious weeds found in the county suchi as morning glory, white top, perennial sow thistle, Canada thistle, thist-le, Russian knap weeds, and quack grass. Each year noxious weeds cost the farmers of Franklin county hundreds of dollars and have made many acres of otherwise profitable land unproductive and useless for the growing of crops. Some land is planted to crops that should not be and this only tends to spread ! the noxious weed and make lt harder hard-er and more expensive to control later. Tlie control of noxious weeds is a continuous program and must be carried on from one year to the next if our land is to be freed of these pests. According to C. B. Sorenson, noxious weed control chairman the same generar ptan of treatment will be in affect this year as in the past, namely the Use of chemicals, carbon bisulphide, bisul-phide, sodium chlorate, and clean cultivation. However, due to a shortage of labor this year we will not be able to treat as many patches patch-es of weeds this year as we have done in the past. o o |
