Show Utilities Line Work Is C urtailed New Customer Within 250 Feet Of Main Line May Still Be Served Utah Power and Light company along with other utilities are prohibited pro-hibited by the war production board from., "making line extensions of over 250 feet except with special authorization, it was pointed out today by R. R. Rowell, Preston division di-vision manager for the Power corn- pany. "Until recently utilities, including includ-ing those providing electricity, water, wa-ter, gas and public sanitary facilities, facili-ties, were permitted to extend their Jines up to 1,000 feet," Mr. Rowell dclared, "but the maximum limit now permitted to serve a new customer cus-tomer is 250 feet." The power branch of WPB in its limiting order made it clear that houses which were wired or for which the foundations were completed by March 26 of this year, may be served with electricity provided pro-vided they are not more than 2,000 feet from an exisiting line and provided galvanized steel instead of copper wire is used. This policy will relieve special hardship cases where building was undertaken in expectation of electric elec-tric service, Mr. Rowell said, but authorization from the WPB must be obtained for each extension of over 250 feet, regardless of when the foundation was dug or the house wired. |
