In addition to the ' training offered in the machine shop, it will be possible for a number num-ber of individuals to be assigned to the radio shop and to the sheet metal shop also located on the campus of the Boise Junior college. col-lege. yTrainees assigned to ionp of ; these three projects will be scheduled sched-uled for 40 hours of training per week Each trainee will devote 20 hours per week to production work under the direction of a qualified NYA shop foreman provided by the National Youth Arministration, where he will gain valuable "on the job" work experience. During the remaining 20 hours per week the trainee will receive vocational instruction or related training under un-der a qualified instructor provided by the State Board of Vocational Education. These two phases of the training are so geared together that the trainee is able to develop his work skills at the same time he is learning the basic principles, techniques and processes relative to. the occupation involved. Trainees are assigned for a maximum max-imum period of three months. Many receive calls for employment before be-fore the maximum period is completed, com-pleted, depending on their progress and the demand for workers. Wage Rates For NYA Trainees It is recognized that many young men do not have the necessary funds to secure pre-employment training. In order to meet this need the National Youth Administration Adminis-tration pays trainees a minimum v. age for the services rendered while securing their work experience. experi-ence. Trainees living in a resident resi-dent center receive $.'!0 per month. In order to pay the costs of board, lodging, health and alii educational costs while living in the resident center $20 to ?22 is deducted from tlie monthly wage and the tra.nee receives the remainder of ?9 to $10 per month to take'eare of person;-.! expenses. In addition, the National Nation-al Youth Administration provides transportation to the resident center cen-ter and return to his home when training is completed. J. Tillman, Director Idaho State Employment Service, and William W. Gartin, state administrator, Ida ho National Youth Administration at a meeting held July 24, 1941. This training center, sponsored by the Boise Junior college, has been established to make possible the training of additional workers for employment in national defense' industries. in-dustries.
