Show Pioneer Daughters Organize Chapter The first meeting of the members of Camp 10, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, of Gunnison, was held at the new chapel Monday afternoon, and the event marked the stepping stone of what promises to be an active and progressive organization. Some fifty attended the session, and out of this number forty signed the rolls to become charter members of the D. U. P. of Gunnison. Mrs. Lilly Metcalf, president, gave an address of welcome to the group. Jos. A. Larson, bishop of the Hamilton Hamil-ton ward, gave a brief review of the intentions of the organization and then launched on the importance of marking historical spots in and around Gunnison. Three markers, Mr. Larson stated, should attract the attention at-tention of the organization. One of these should be established near the D. & R. G. W. depot, where the first settlers established their homes. A second would be highly appropriate at Rocky Point, better known as "Hog Wallow," where later coming settlers made their homes, and the third at the old home formerly occupied by Bishop Madsen, located in the west part of the city. Old Fort Gunnison, which at the time it was built enclosed four blocks, forming a safeguard for the settlers against the onslaughts of the warring Indians, should be mark-, ed as one of the real historical spots of the valley. Mr. Larson, in his talk, regretted that so many of the old landmarks, known only to the early settlers, had been entirely obliterated by time and carelessness. Mrs. Angie Buchanan gave a talk on the parliamentary laws governing' the organization and the value of living liv-ing up to them, and Mrs. Dorothy Anderson read the by-laws. Mrs. Rainy Ludvigson gave a sketch of the life of her mother, Mrs. Dave Anderson Ander-son of Centerfield. Musical numbers (Continued on last page) Pioneer Daughters Organize Chapter (Continued from, page 1) were given by the Misses Gertrude Edwards and Beth Bardsley.
