Show Cattle Decrease InSanpete County Farm census preliminary reports recently sent out by the department of commerce at Washington, show a noticeable decrease in the number of cattle for Sanpete county, and the report re-port gives statist'es showing comparative compar-ative eiops harvested in 1934 and in 1929. The report says: The number of cattle on farms and ranches in Sanpete county decreased 1,856 between April 1, 1930 and January Jan-uary 1, 1935, according to a preliminary prelim-inary tabulation of returns of the census of agriculture, which began January 2, 1935, and released by Director Di-rector William L. Austin, bureau of the census, department of commerce. There were 1,742 farms and ranches ranch-es reported in 1935 as compared with 1,703 in 1930. The average size was 2-10 acres in 1935 and 273.8 acres in 1930. The average value of land and buildings was $4,985 in 1935 and $7,751 in 1930. Cattle on farms and ranches decreased de-creased from 19,953 on April 1, 1930, to 18,097 on January 1, 1935. The number of horses and colts was 5,076, and sheep and lambs, 199,723 on January Jan-uary 1, 1935. Land from which crops were harvested har-vested was 42,830 acres in 1934 as compared with 81,916 acres in 1929. The acreage and quantity of the selected se-lected crops harvested in 1934 were: All hay and sorghums for forage, 29,-786 29,-786 acres and -27,770 tons; wheat threshed, 7,289 acres and 107,267 bushels;' barley threshed, 1,810 acres and 45,357 bushels; oats threshed, 1,596 acres and 39,655 bushels; and lUgar beets for sugar, 708 acres and 3,756 tons.
