Show IS WORLD HEALTH BETTER? Information gathered by the league of Nations seems to show that in 1934. the fifth year of the depression, the death rate of the world declined and the population rose. At first glance, this seems to indicate in-dicate that hard times do not affect the health of the people as much as most of us thought. However, some authorities hold that the public is now reaping the benefit of many years of patient research and former ; years of good, health. They seem to j think that the figures ten years from nqw may reflect more accurately the j deterioration of public health as a re- suit of the depression. j Hospitals closed for lack of f und.s, j a lower standard of living for the un-j employed, and the general decline of i physicians cannot be ignored, and in- j evitably will have a bad effect in the i future. |
