About ten-thirty Monday evening the heme of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfordj , Mc-llor was destroyed by fire. Mr.; i Mellor had been burning weeds in the late afternoon and had returned to j i the old Pierce home, where he has : i been living. A breeze came up and : fanned the coals into flames, ' which 1 quickly spread to the house and in I a very short time the entire struc-; struc-; ture was a mass of flames. The home was a two-room structure of hewnj ! log and frame and had just been re-: i modeled by Mr. Mellor and was about j ready for occupancy. I Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Bartholomew, ! came in from Provo Saturday. Glenn' ' had attended the summer school at j the B. Y. XL. They will make their: ; home here this winter. Chester Hil left Monday for Salt Lake, where he will be employed in i the music department of the South 1 high school. j Mrs. Gene Tuttle and children of : Manti, spent a few days here visit-' ing with relatives and friends. Mrs. Frank Hansen and children of Gunnison, spent the week-end as the guests of Mrs. Roxie Christensen, mother to Mrs. Hansen. J Miss Jeanette Hanford will be employed em-ployed in the training department of Snow college as first grade teacher. She left here early Monday morning for Ephraim. j Mrs. Louise Wintch and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wintch and ch'ldren of Manti, spent Monday visiting with' relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wintch and family returned home that evening, eve-ning, and Mrs. Louise Wintch remained re-mained to visit with her daughters, Mrs. Norval Mellor and Mrs. Ray C. Bartholomew. Mr. and Mrs. Blain Anderson and daughter, Jean, returned to Sterling Sunday, where they will make their home this winter. Mr. Anderson will be employed in the public school there. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Robinson of California, are here visiting with Mrs.' Zina Pickett and Mrs. Joseph Mellor, sisters to Mr. Robinson. W. E. Bown of Provo, came here Saturday morning and returned to his home Sunday. He was accompan- ied on the return trip by his children, |
