Show Resigns Office As District Governor J. W. Jones, Gunnison banker, and who was elected to the office of district governor of the 28th district, embracing Utah and Idaho, of the International Lions club, has resign-J ed his office, his notification being sent to the headquarters at Salt Lake last week. Mr. Jones, one of the boosters for the Lions club, stated that his banking duties here and due to the fact that he Was far from the center of the real activities in the district, and further, that an intensive inten-sive campaign to be waged in the establishing of new clubs in the district, dis-trict, he could not serve as he should, and was forced to turn the office over to one who could really spare the time and carry over the work unhindered. Mr. Jones, a real Lion booster, was one of the charter members of the Gunnison cluM, being foremost in getting the club started here. He served as president of the Gunnison club for two years and for a time was deputy district governor of the 28th district. During his membership member-ship and as an officer Mr. Jones has been a "go-getter" and has been the means of keeping the spirit alive in this section. His resignation will be deeply regretted, not only among his fellow Lions in Gunnison, but by all the clubs in the district. In tendering his resignation Mr. Jones recommended Harvey Selley of Salt Lake, and present deputy district dis-trict governor, as his successor. Mr. ' Selley is treasurer of the Tracey Loan & Trust company,, a live-wire Lion and an efficient general and business man. |
