Show Sanpete County Elects Full Republican Ticket Keeping pace with times of yore, Sanpete county rolled up the usual big majority for the state and county coun-ty candidates on the republican ticket, tick-et, and as a result the majorities of the senatorial and congressional candidates can-didates get a big boost from this sec-tion. sec-tion. Senator Smoot beat his opponent op-ponent with a majority of 1275 votes and Colton received 1096 more votes than did Bergeson. Judge George Christensen, candidate candi-date for the supreme court, was -the only lucky democrat on the ticket in the County. He had a majority of 206 over Judge Hansen, his opponent. oppon-ent. June Metcalf, republican nominee i for four-commissioner, ,and a Gunnison Gunni-son Valley man, was highly honored itlvroughout the county. Metcalf came through with a total .vote of 3439 and won out with a majority of 1281 votes over his opponent, Richard Rich-ard Fjeldsted of Centerfield. Mr. Metcalf yas named-to fill the vacancy, vacan-cy, caused by the death of Joseph Christenson early last spring. During Dur-ing his short term in office he has demonstrated his ability as an official offi-cial and his capabilities, no doubt, was the result of his heavy majority. major-ity. There was a lone candidate on it he republican ticket that bested Mr. Metcalf, it being Jacob Thompson Thomp-son of Ephraim. Thompson's total vote was 3440, while that of Mr. Metcalf was 3439. C. M. Edwards, one of the leading lead-ing attorneys of the county, and also a Gunnison man, was highly honored, honor-ed, his vote in the county being 3277. Edwards' majority over Britsch, ithe democratic nominee for county attorney, at-torney, was 1075. The entire republican re-publican ticket,, with the exception of Judge Elias Hansen, carried majorities majori-ties ranging from 279 to 1403.
