Show Utah Patriots Plan Xmas Seal Drivt Utah is getting ready to partici pate in the nineteeenth annua Christmas Seal Sale, beginning afte Thanksgiving day and lasting until Christmas. Utah is expected to raisi $50,000 in this campaign. Supplie: have been unpacked at the office oi the Utah Public Health associatior. in the state capitol. This health association is the ag ency in this state through which these seals are sold, and six million of seals, posters and other supplies necessary to the campaign will bt distributed this coming woek to local committees throughout the staite. The Christmas Seal this year is f four-color design somewhat simila: in effect to the beautiful 1924 Seal, which was universally conceded ito have been the most artistic seal produced pro-duced up to that time. The subject consists of three old-fashioned old-fashioned minstrels garbed in vivid yellow and rich red, singing and playing Christmas carols. The background back-ground is a pleasing blue, shaded from a light sky tint to a very deep hue, suggesting a clean Christmas dawn. The message is merely "Merry Christmas." In the very middle is a white shield bearing the red double barred cross the familiar emblem that stands for the worldwide world-wide movement for the prevention of tuberculosis in which are enrolled the International Union Against Tuberculosis Tuber-culosis and the National Tuberculosis Tuberculo-sis association, .48 state associations and about 2,000 local associations. "This campaign has resulted in a saving of millions -of lives throughout through-out the world," said Dr. John A. Widtsoe, president of the Utah Public Pub-lic - Health association, "and in the United States alone it has effected a reduction of the death rate in the past fifteen years from 280,000 deaths a year to 97,000. .This is the great life-saving work, in which the Utah Public Health association is a particpant, and which big-hearted men and women, serving on Seal Sale committees, have been responsible respon-sible in a large measure, for without the money raised from selling Christmas Christ-mas Seals, the saving of so many lives each year could not have been accomplished." The quota of seals for Utah, if placed side by side, would extend from Logan to St. George, or would make a blet across Utah in both directions di-rections . |
