Show Flexible Tariff Statute Upheld Washington The constitutionality of the flexible provisions of the tariff j law, whereby the president may raise or lower important duties 50 per cent, was upheld by the United States court of customs appeals. The question probably will be carried to the supreme su-preme court. The court held that the delegation of such authority to the president was a valid exercise of the constitutional grant of power to congress con-gress to regulate commerce. Its purpose pur-pose is to equalize the difference in cost of production in this and the principal prin-cipal competing countries. |
