Shooting Follows Attempt of Agitators to Prevent the Arrest of a Negro Who Was Organizing Colored Men in the South. New Orleans. Three alleged agitators agita-tors were killed and a fourth was perhaps per-haps mortally wounded Saturday afternoon af-ternoon in a rifle and pistol battle with members of the Law and Order league at Bogalusa. Although Jiullets were showered at them for several minutes the Law and Order men suffered only one casualty. -Jules Lebane, an ex-soldier who had volunteered for extra police duty, got a ball through his right arm. Those killed were Lnm E. Williams, president of the Central Trades and Labor council of Bogalusa, and Walter Wal-ter Bouchillon and Thomas Gains, two of the union head's lieutenants. S.1 J. O'-Rourke, who also is alleged to have been active as an agitator, was shot three times and probably will not survive. The shooting followed an attempt by Williams and his lientenants- to prevent pre-vent the arrest of Sol Dakus, a negro who had been trying to organize the colored labor of Bogalusa and for whom a warrant had been issued. |
