Show Area Obituaries Bernard A. Johnson FARMINGTON Celebrating Celebra-ting Christmas together again, our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather Bernard A. Johnson (Poppa) returned home to his Heavenly Father and to his wife Alice, on Sunday evening Dec. 23, 2001 at the age of 95. He was born Apr. 22, 1906 in Tropic, Utah to John Henry and Mary Estella Ahlstrom Johnson. He was a lifelong member of the LDS Church. He served in the North Central States Mission in Saskatchewan, Canada. While there, he met his sweetheart sweet-heart Alice McCarthy. They were married on July 29, 1930 in the Cardston Alberta LDS Temple. They brought eight children into their home. Alice preceded him in death on January 15, 1996. He was a cattleman and rancher in the Bryce Canyon area for many years. He served in the Bishopric of the Tropic LDS Ward for 18 years. He was an original member of the Board of Trustees and Treasurer for the Garkane Power Company. He was a Garfield County Commissioner Com-missioner and was instrumental in getting the road, (now Highway 12) from Tropic to Boulder. During World War II he was the overseer of the Grist Mill and helped produce all the cereal and flour for a tri-county area. He moved his family to Farmington, Utah in March of 1951. He was an aircraft mechanic at Hill Air Force Base where he was known as Mr. "J". He retired from Hill Field in 1976. He was a longtime member of NCHA (National Campers and Hikers Association). He served for many years as chap-Iain chap-Iain for this organization, and was known to everyone as CIRCLEVlLLE Charles Reed Wiltshire, 88, of Circleville, Utah, peacefully left this earth to join his Heavenly Father and his family on the morning of December 24, 2001. Reed married Esther Allen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, June 7, 1933 and she preceded him in death, October 21, 1983, shortly after their 50th wedding anniversary. Their love for each other and for their family was always foremost in their lives. Dad was born January 25, 1913 in Circleville, where he graduated Valedictorian and Student Body President of Piute High. He was a great athlete and loved to watch sports on TV to the very end. He served a stake mission and was a seventy in the LDS Church. He also worked in the Sunday School Superintendency in the Circleville 1st Ward. Dad loved his farm, cattle, a good horse and the yearly roundup with his family and good friends. Fishing and hunting hunt-ing were a big part of his life. The outdoors was his companion compan-ion and a bouquet of wild flowers flow-ers were a favorite gift to Esther. He was loved by everyone who knew him and was respected respect-ed by all. He is survived by his children, chil-dren, Neil (Zina) Wiltshire and Allen Wiltshire both of Circleville and Claudia (Dirk) Pendleton of Richfield; 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grand- i i " f - I I tV Xi,M:wS,m'K.', tyv . He is survived by six of his children: John (Patricia), Merritt Island, Fla.; Edward "Ted", Farmington; Bernard (Evalyn), Roy, Utah; Alice Gay (Gaylen) Matheson, Cedar City, Utah; Bertha (Alan) McGee, Farming-ton, Farming-ton, Utah; and Anne Sellers, Farmington; and a special adopted daughter, Peggy (Joe) Chavez, Salt Lake City; 43 grandchildren; 121 great-grand-' children (and one on the way); 1 great-great granddaughter (with two more on the way). He was preceded in death by his beloved wife; two sons, Bruce Arden Johnson and Gordon Gor-don McCarthy Johnson; three grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001 at the Farmington Rock Chapel in Farmington. Interment was in Farmington City Cemetery. Funeral services will be on Friday, December 28, 2001 at 12:00 Noon in the Circleville 1st LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may on Friday, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Circleville Cemetery.
