Show Three Sisters Killed In Icy Highway 89 Accident : PANGUITCH Icy, slick roads and snowy conditions may have contributed to a tragic deadly accident which claimed the lives of three sisters Saturday evening, one mile south of the junction of US 89 and Highway 20, about nine miles north of Panguitch. Sisters Nita Bruce 26, Margaret Bruce 20 and Carrie Bruce 17, all died upon impact after their 1985 Ford Escort, traveling south on US 89, spun out of control and was broad-sided broad-sided by a northbound 1999 Pontiac Montana. Highway Patrol Trooper Jared Higgs, who investigated the incident, noted that both front seat occupants of the Escort were seatbelted in but the back seat passenger was ejected from the vehicle. The officer also indicated that weather at accident site at approximately 6:15 p.m. was slick and snowy. The girls were apparently returning from a holiday hol-iday trip to Wyoming to their home in Bellemont, Ariz., a small suburb of Flagstaff and may have been traveling too fast for highway conditions. Also investigating the accident was UHP Trooper Doug Tenney. Traffic along US 89 was cut to one lane for nearly two hours as fire, search and rescue and EMT's worked to handle the accident site. - t ( ., I 1 .
