Show GSENM Opens Virtual Visitor Center on Web You can now visit Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument's Virtual Visitor Center to plan your backcountry trip to the 1.9 million-acre National Monument. Being informed and prepared in this remote and rugged area will assure an enjoyable and safe experience. Graphic art and historic photographs pho-tographs make this site engaging and educational, along with Mildred the Collie who provides answers to often asked questions. ques-tions. Safety is the key message along with a route planner with ratings for each activity which help ' visitors determine their abilities, then learn about potential poten-tial routes that fit their desires. Visitors can apply for an overnight backcountry permit online and then pick up the permit per-mit at any Monument Visitor Center.
