Show PMJGUI7M HGl'JS By Earl Roe 676-2376 wearlroeyahoo.com Spring has sprung, the grass has riz, I wonder where the news articles is? Until Saturday I had but one little tidbit that I thought interesting inter-esting enough to pass on and I had about decided to let this week go by the wayside; however, how-ever, Saturday I picked up enough to possibly make an article. arti-cle. Had to ask the News to "hold the press" and they made an exception to my deadline. I called my sister, Thais Griffin in Escalante to see what she was planning concerning an upcoming wedding of one of our nephews (Ken and Judi's son). She was not home but I got to visit with her husband Gene and learned that he won the championship trophy in the All Star pool tournament for the PhoenixMesa area. This did not surprise me too much because I remember Gene's skill in this game back in our younger days when I used to shoot a little pool myself. We used to have two pool halls in Panguitch (anyone remember?) and some of us got to be fairly sharp players and some of the older players got to be extra good players and used to play for a little money. (The only real gambling we did was loser paid for the game-10 cents!) Gene used to come over once in a while and take a dollar or two from these fellows. This was the tidbit) Steven Moore who recently returned from his mission returned to Oxnard, Calif., to attend the LDS Temple with a family he baptized while on his mission. His cousin, Tyrell Bangerter, accompanied him to keep him from having to make the trip alone. Tyrell is the son of Kevin and Cindy (Moore) Bangarter. The family Steven went to see were so happy to see that Steven was still concerned about them that they called Deanna and Lavenda Moore (Steve's mother and grandmother) grandmoth-er) - to tell them about it and wish both of them a happy Mothers Day. Friday, May 7, Scott Henrie, son of Vee and Janice Henrie, received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the National Guard. The following day he graduated from Southern Utah University (SUU) with a bachelor's degree. Sometime this summer he is scheduled to spend a few week s in Korea to take some specialized training. We congratulate five area teachers who received theor master's degree at 'Saturday's SUU graduation exercises, a banner day for Panguitch. John Gillett, (Panguitch High School mathe teacher); and from Panguitch Elementary, Julie Barnhurst, Leslie Barnhurst, Sherrill Henrie, and Russell Torgerson. This requires a lot of effort and commitment when you are teaching full time. Just a reminder that the local Lion's Club is still collecting aluminum cans and would appreciate it if everyone would save their cans and toss them in one of the collection bins. Their big park renovation project is going to take avery cent they can raise. " daisies are Your favorite flower Keep pushing up Those miles per hour. " Burma Shave. |
