Show Area Obituaries Preston Richard Porter SALT LAKE CITY -Preston Richard Porter 71, died on his birthday, Apr. 21, 2004 at LDS Hospital of a heart attack and stroke. He was born Apr. 21, 1933 in Escalante, Utah, to Preston Porter and Martha Elise Ott of Escalate. He served in the US Army in Germany from 1953-55., then settled in Woods Cross, Utah. He retired from the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 57 after 35 years. He also retired from the Chevron Oil Refinery in 1995. He married Virginia Mitchell Sept. 8, 1953; their marriage was solemnized in the Bountiful LDS Temple on June 22, 1995. He served as a high priest and was active in the LDS Church. He is survived by his wife Virginia, daughter Deanne Chapman, son Kipp Richard Porter, all Woods Cross. He is also survived by grandchildren Chuck Chapman, Layton; Crystal Hochne, Woods Cross; great-grandchildren Colton, Brayden, Samantha, Noah, Chelsea, Brody, and Kayden. He was a quiet cowboy and a legend to all his nephews and grandchildren. Funeral services were held Apr. 24 at the Woods Cross LDS Stake Center. Interment was at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery in Bountiful. |
