Show State Bank Of Southern Utah Will Open Branch In Tropic TROPIC State Bank of Southern Utah, the largest independent indepen-dent bank in southern Utah, will open its ninth branch in August. Bank officers announced intent this week to construct a new facility at 200 North and Main (Highway 12) across from Doug's Place and the Bryce Valley Inn in Tropic. Construction on its new building build-ing is set to start in early spring and the bank is considering placing a temporary structure pending completion com-pletion of its permanent facility. The location, a central one in Garfield County, will provide full banking services for local area customers throughout the county and convenient banking for the hundreds of thousands of visitors who annually travel along the highway to enjoy the county's scenic attractions. State Bank of Southern Utah received the necessary approval from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation on Jan. 31 and the Utah Department of Financial Institutions Insti-tutions completed its portion on Feb. 5. Headquartered in Cedar City, SBSU is an independently-owned bank and is insured by the FD1C. It is also an Equal Housing Lender and offers a variety of checking and savings accounts. The bank offers services that include consumer, agricultural, commercial and small business loans; bank cards (ATM, MasterCard, and VISA); a notary public, safe deposit boxes, wire transfers, brokerage services; travelers' tra-velers' checks; and a voice-automated voice-automated telephone line ("Anytime Line"). In addition to its Cedar City location, SBSU currently has branches in Parowan, Circleville, Orderville, Kanab and St. George and construction is already underway under-way on a new branch in Santa Clara. State bank plans to hire locally and will announce its branch manager man-ager at a later date.
