Show - i , i r i - iL . - , . . . cm Preal A. "Sam" Baldwin SOUTH OGDEN - Preal A. "Sam" Baldwin, 80, passed away Sunday, May 10, 1998 at McKay-Dee McKay-Dee Hospital. He was born Sept. 16, 1917 in Cannonville, son of C. Angus and Myrtle Wilson Baldwin. On Aug. 5, 1939, Sam married Reta Davis in Salt Lake City. As a young man he joined the Civilian Conservation Corp where he served until 1940. Sam received training in heavy duty mechanics at Utah State University and was hired to work for Consolidated Aircraft in San Diego, Calif. He was there when war was declared against Japan in 1941. Sam worked at Hill Air ' Force Base for about 35 years, leaving to serve with the U.S. Air Force for two years. He retired from Hill Field in 1980. Sam was also a professional barber. He worked at the Squire, Rulon Walker, Jack White and Les Morkley Barber Shops. He was a member of the Golden Spike Mule Association. He had worked with and loved horses and jack stock most of his life. His mules were the best in the West. His family and many friends will miss him as will his mules. Sam is survived by his wife Reta of South Ogden; a daughter, Cherie (William) Scoffield, PANGUITCH Marie Frances Kohl, born June 23, 1919 in Decatur, Illinois died Apr. 23 in Covina, Calif, after a brief illness. Marie worked at Bryce Canyon National Park for 14 years. She retired in 1986 and moved to Las Vegas to live with her daughter in ( Sam Baldwin Sunnyvale, Calif.; sons, Brent, Russell, and Matt Baldwin, all of Ogden; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Gwen B. Evans, Puget Sound, Wash. Sam was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William H. Baldwin. Funeral services will be held at the graveside on Friday, May 14, 1998 at 1 p.m. at the Tropic Cemetery in Tropic. Friends may call at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Thursday from 6 to- 8 p.m. Twila Schow 'Pat" Leming ESCALANTE Twila Schow Porter "Pat" Leming, 83, passed away May 9, 1998 at her home in Escalante. She was born March 14, 1915 in Escalante to Andrew H. and Susannah Spencer Schow. She married DeRell Porter; they later divorced. She married Guy Ammon Leming on April 23, 1955 in Ely, Nev. He preceded her in death December 27, 1995. She is survived by her children: Gaytha (Arthur) Loeffler of Washington, Wash-ington, Sherril (Shirley) Porter and Lynn Porter both of Escalante, Carla (Kirt) Bryant of North Carolina; Caro-lina; nine grandchildren; 17 greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; three great-greatgrandchildren; brothers and sisters, Mario Schow, Warren Schow, Calvin Cal-vin Schow, Myrle Davenport all of ' Salt Lake City, Maxine Alvey of Aurora. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Dick Schow and Ronald Schow; sisters Leda Emery, Oma Jamison, Zella Alvey and Iris Porter. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield. Thaddie Shirleen Blais PANGUITCH Thaddie Shirleen Shir-leen Lancaster Blais, 50, of Pan-guitch, Pan-guitch, passed away May 12, 1998 at her home in Panguitch. She was born April 26, 1948 to Lunther Junior and Waunda Bernice Bour-geous Bour-geous Lancasster in Morenci, Ariz. She married Phillip W. Blais June 6, 1968 in the Mesa LDS Temple. Shirleen graduated from Duncan High School where she served as president of the Future Teachers of America, president of the Future Homemakers of America, president of the Girls Athletic Association, member of the student council and senior class representative. Shirleen Shir-leen was a member of the mixed choir and all-girls choir, member of the Spanish and activities club. She loved playing volleyball, tennis, ten-nis, and lettered each year and won district and state championships. Shirleen worked as a traffic ticket secretary, librarian, manager of a motel, and a coach in volleyball volley-ball for junior high students. Shirleen Shir-leen graduated from Eastern Arizona and Northern Arizona University with a degree in secondary education and a minor in physical education. Shirleen has served in all auxiliaries of the LDS church on a ward and stake level with 17 years of leadership leader-ship and 14 years of teaching, two years for Cub Scouts and three years in music. She is survived by her husband, Philip; children Shawna (Tracy) Feltner, Cedar City; Shara Blais, Provo; Sheresa (Kim) Tebbs, Lay-ton; Lay-ton; Philip V. She was preceded in death by her father. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 14 at 1 p.m. at the Panguitch Stake Center, 550 S. 100 W., Panguitch, where friends may call at the stake center from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening, even-ing, and again from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Kohl. i I... i i m , i ., , t Dicy Clark Smith Shumway HENRIEVILLE Dicy Clark Smith Shumway, 70, of Hen-rieville Hen-rieville passed away May 11, 1998 in Henrieville. She was born Dec. 12, 1927 in Henrieville to Thomas and Minnie Clark Smith. She married mar-ried Daryl Shumway Mar. 2, 1950 in the St. George LDS Temple. She was an active member of the LDS Church, where she served in various callings. She was also a member of the Lions Club International. Interna-tional. She is survived by her husband of Henrieville; daughter Nikki (Terry) Giles, Heber City; Gloria (Robert) Davis, St. George; Suzanne (Gam) Carlile, Salt Lake City; son Clark (Cindy) Shumway, Tacoma, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; brother, Thayne Smith, Kanab; sister Alaska Richards, Tropic. Voyne Ackerman JUNCTION Joseph Voyne Ackerman, 77, died May 11, 1998 at his home in Junction. He was born Apr. 19, 1921 in Fort Duchesne, Utah to Joseph and Elsie Mcintosh Ackerman. He married Maurine Stone, they later divorced. He served in the U.S. Army in Italy during WWII, working in the Medical Corps. He owned and operated op-erated his own sawmill for 30 years. He was a scoutmaster and is fondly known as "Doc" by his family fam-ily and many friends. He is survived by step-daughter, Sheri Dearden of Fillmore; sisters: Velda Norton, Marysvale; Raeola LeFevre, Junction; Leah Stkinson, Taylorsville, and Vila (Cal) Holfeltz, Richfield; 15 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Marion Ackerman and sisters Zelda and Dorothy Fern Ackerman. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 16 at 1 p.m. in the Circleville LDS Ward Chapel.
