Show Garfield 4-H Members Attend State Meet Twelve Garfield County teenagers returned this week from challenging competition at the annual an-nual 4-H contests in Logan where Roshell Proctor captured first place in the state Ambassador Beef contest, con-test, winning a trip to Kentucky and a chance to try for national Beef Ambassador. She will fly to Kentucky in November and spend a week touring as she presents her demonstration. Roshell is a sophomore student at Southern Utah State College in Cedar City where she is majoring in math education. She is a daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Proctor. Proc-tor. The 4-H group from Garfield County traveled to Logan on Thursday morning and began competition com-petition the same afternoon. State competition includes a wide variety of contests including cooking, sewing, tractor driving, shooting and many others. Competing from Garfield County were Dianna Murphy in Talent, Kenny Pollock and Chris Berry in Shooting Sports, Andrea Guillette and Tammy Baldwin in Style Dress Revue, Alisha Hatch in Illustrated Talks and Clothing Demonstrations, Stacee Yardley, Emily LeFevre, Stacia Proctor and Tammy Baldwin in Meal Preparation. A special talent show was held with the winners of the talent division participating. Garfield County had responsibility for organizing the talent show each year, a real challenge for the group with only two hours preparation time. Tammy Baldwin and Stacia Proctor narrated the show, with others behind the scenes getting the performers on stage at the proper time. |
