Show Charges Filed In Burr Trail Fatal Accident A California man faced charges this week of automobile homicide in the July 23 death of a young woman on the Burr Trail. Michael Allen Sterger, Cypress, Calif., appeared in Sixth Circuit Court in Panguitch Friday on charges of automobile homicide, a second degree felony. He was charged with operating the vehicle that caused the death of Michelle Eckroth, 26, Huntington Beach, Calif., in a criminally negligent manner while under the influence of alcohol andor drugs. He was also charged with possession of marijuana, mari-juana, a class B misdemeanor and possession of drug paraphernalia, also a class B misdemeanor. Eckroth died from injuries suffered suf-fered in an accident of the Burr Trail approximately five miles west of its junction with Utah Highway 276. She was taken by medical helicopter he-licopter to Page Hospital in Page, Ariz., where she was pronounced dead. Two other passengers in the vehicle were also taken by helicopter heli-copter to the Page hospital, treated and released. Sterger was arrested by Garfield County Sheriffs deputy Shawn Draper and transported to Garfield County Jail in Panguitch where he spent the night before his release on $2,000 bail the following follow-ing day. On Friday, Judge David Mower set a preliminary hearing for August Au-gust 30. Sterger was allowed to re turn to California to his employment. employ-ment.
