Show Panguitch News Mamie Talbot An unusual storm hit the valley this past week when two cloud masses from the east and west collided col-lided on the north end of town. Hurricane force winds brought waves of what looked like smoke, but turned out to be dirt, from the piles of crushed gravel at the north end of town. Then came the rain which resulted in flash floods around the area. After three months drought it was a shocker. The Claud Hatches took the Claud Barney Hatch family to Salt Lake City to return to Georgia after a three-week visit home from his military base. Most of the family of the late Millard Hatches met at the family home on Main Street to visit and to decide to put the home up for sale. Spending holiday time with the Tom Proctors were Jerry and Shana Rae Proctor Witters, Caliente, Calif.; Mike and Vickie Veater Blake, Keams; the Kim Proctors, Hebcr City; and Curtis Veater, Tyan Veater, Max Proctor and Bobby Proctor, Las Vegas. The Jerry Smith family has moved into the Marvin Neilson home up on Pigweed Lane. The class of '49 had their 40th high school reunion at Rubys Inn. They were the first class to graduate from Panguitch High School which had been called Garfield High School prior to that time. A total of 56 friends including three former teachers enjoyed an evening of renewing re-newing memories. Visiting with Sherree Wilcock and Michael Thomas were their mother Betty Morrow and sister Summer Morrow, Texas. The Kevin Hepworlh and Bobby Owens families spent time with their folks here. Aurclia Adair, Russell and Garna Dee Webb Higbce, Cedar City, visited with Hope Goulding who also had the Jim Gouldings here for Jim's high school reunion, and the Joel Dullons, Frcdonia. Richard and Slcphany Paicc, Beaver, presented Hope with a new great-granddaughter. Two hundred fifty-nine members of the Ira W. Hatch clan gathered at the big family home on Center Street from all over the country to get reacquainted. Representatives of nearly every one of "Uncle Iry's" children were there. Bill Hatch underwent surgery on his foot in Salt Lake City where he is improving. The Leo Nortons, Bountiful, spent a week in the area with friends, family and looking over the burned area from the wildfires. The Gale Wilcocks had son Hal Wilcock's family here while Hal painted his folks' home. Other visitors there were Tracy Davis and Roger Davis, Cedar City; Alyce Henderson's family, Kanab; Ed Romel, California; and Alvin Wilcock, Provo. Mary Bowlcy has moved to Arizona Ari-zona to join her family. Arthur and Jean Henrie Gottfred-son Gottfred-son reported their LDS mission to Scotland in the Panguitch Third LDS Ward. Here for the occasion were many of Ruth Henrie's family. The Howard Foys have returned to Oklahoma after a month's visit here. |
