Show 'I .y x I I ' "'""" Michelle Henrie Granddaughter New USU Student Leader Michelle Henrie has been elected student body president of Utah State University, the first female to hold the post in the institution's 100-year 100-year history. Her victory over her opponent was a close one, coming by only' 17 votes. She spent a year as academic aca-demic vice president before seeking the chief student body position. The philosophy major is among 12,500 students at USU helping to celebrate the Logan-based university's universi-ty's centennial anniversary. Her election lends a modern twist as the school enters its second century. She ran on a platform o f academic issues and will organize student lobbying groups to fight tax rollback initiatives, encouraging students to vote for lawmakers who vote for education issues. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Burdell Henrie of West Jordan and granddaughter of Bernard Henrie of Panguitch and Lottie Olds of Toqucrville. |
