Roe asked j " other applications had been taken and was told that applications were submitted by Delin Roundy, Kay Englestead, Josie, Ann Reynolds, and Ted Chidester. Judd said all applicants ap-plicants would be considered. Board member Rod Syrett presented pre-sented Bryce Valley School basketball basket-ball coach Clare Ramsay with a plaque for finishing seventh in the 1A State Tournament. Judd presented pre-sented plaques to former school board presidents Quay Simons and Sam Allen. Doug Taylor, job superintendent of the new Escalante High School under construction, reported that finish work has started at the school and completion is scheduled for mid-June. Graduation assignments were made. Judd said that the district had received re-ceived an $8,500 grant to purchase a new drivers ed vehicle. He stated he would have bids soon and the board would make a decision. Judd reported on a survey made concerning a change in the starting and ending time of each school day. The survey indicated that the times now being kept should continue. Supt. Judd reported to the board that all the tests that have been made at the Panguitch High School, where the teachers have been reporting sick, show that there is no apparent cause for the sickness. Judd suggested that the possibility that lighting could cause the sickness sick-ness might be a valid point. He asked for suggestions from the board because he feels he has done all he can. Judd stated that the district received re-ceived a claim from Kena Mclnelly Knighton for an injury received while long jumping. The superintendent told the board that the swimming pool committee has met and has suggested an energy grant to acquire a swimming pool cover and close the pool for several months per year. He will keep the board apprised as to the progress of the plan. Cindy Townsend, Gloria Grade, Kent Robinson, Sunia Spencer, and Vicky Crawford have been approved as substitutes in the district. The board met in executive session ses-sion to discuss applicants for posi- tions at the Panguitch Middle School. |
