Show ; Tl JUST STUFF f2 BY JflN I think my crying the woes of the roller coaster weather last week may have paid off. I think spring has finally sprung. It's warm weather, green grass and sunshine from here on out! There are several sure signs of spring - robins busily building their nests; blossoms budding from the trees; leaves and grass turning gorgeous greens; little lambs and calves and colts and baby everything every-thing romping at their mothers' feet. And, of course, spring wouldn't be spring without the first true sunburn of the season. I like a gorgeous tan just as well as the next person. However, I lack the patience to "lay out" to accomplish accom-plish that golden nut-brown appearance. I've tried. With a good book in one hand and a UjH glass of iced tea in another, I have, on numerous nu-merous occasions, made my way to . the sunniest spot of the yard. Donned in little more than co-; co-; conut oil and a spring bikini, I have stretched out my bod to catch a few rays. And I have stayed for no more than five minutes. That's all I can take. After that, no matter how good the book, or the tea, for that matter, I've had enough. My skin of course hasn't had enough time to start to pink, let alone burn enough to brown. I just don't like to lay out. I find it boring, boring, boring! bor-ing! It's not that I don't like the sun. I can spend hours in the sun, provided pro-vided I'm doing something. But to just lay there and let the rays beat upon my body about drives me crazy. No, if I'm going to have a tan, I have to get it while I'm doing something else. And that's just what happened this weekend. Kraig and I decided to stain our redwood deck. And, since we were doing the deck, we thought we'd do the lawn furniture, too. What a great chance to catch a few rays, I thought. I put on my trusty bikini top and a pair of cut offs (I no longer fit comfortably in the bikini bottoms . . .) and we went to work. Now, if you're laying out there isn't much to do but pay attention to how much time you're spending laying in. the sun, so you usually don't get too much. Unfortunately, if you're doing something else and gettng a tan by way of a bum is simply secondary, you tend to forget for-get about the sun and its effects. Such was the case this weekend. After several hours of working in the sun, Kraig and I not only have a deck that is a lovely red, furniture that is a lovely red, but bods that are fried a lovely red, as well. Finally, when the sun dipped below the horizon and shade made its way to our deck, we were able to enjoy the newly stained furniture. furni-ture. Until then, we walked gently around the house, cringing at every move. Yes, spring is here, and I'm on my way to a tan! |
